Install PhotoQT on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
PhotoQT isn’t included in Ubuntu software repository. However, it can be easily installed from Official PPA. Open up a terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the following two lines of commands.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:lumas/photoqt sudo apt update && sudo apt install photoqt
Note that this PPA doesn’t support Ubuntu 14.04. Distros based on Ubuntu 16.04 like Linux Mint 18 can use this PPA to install PhotoQT.
Once the installation is complete, start it from Unity Dash.
By default, PhotoQT operates in full screen mode. When it starts, a pop up window shows you all shortcut keys. On the left side you can open your images from file system.
Once you open an image, you have many options like set as wallpaper, add to slide show, show metadata, rotate, flip, edit with Gimp, Krita external image editor and so on.
